From an Instrumental to Universal Music Spain: “Caliente” with Franklin Dam
“Caliente” (“Hot”) began with an instrumental arrangement I had created. I wanted to develop it into a Spanish-language dance record and started looking for the right artist.
Someone in the music industry recommended Franklin Dam. I contacted him, sent him the music and invited him to collaborate. Franklin liked the track, and we began developing it together.
Working with Franklin Dam
Franklin was already an established producer, singer and DJ in the international Latin dance scene. His catalogue included “Tócame” with Sak Noel and Salvi, released by Mad Decent.
He had also worked on their remixes of Pitbull’s “I Feel Good” and Dillon Francis and Aleyna Tilki’s “Real Love”.
What began with my instrumental became a joint record as Franklin and I worked on the composition, lyrics, arrangement and final sound. Franklin recorded the vocal, while I led the production and handled the synthesizer programming.
Releasing “Caliente”
The finished record attracted the interest of Tâino Music, SL and was released on November 30, 2023, with distribution by Virgin Music Spain, a division of Universal Music Spain S.L.U.
“Caliente” is available through Spotify, Apple Music and the official Universal Music Group YouTube channel.
“Caliente” grew from an independently created instrumental into an international collaboration released through the Universal Music Spain network. It also brought together two producers from different musical backgrounds: Franklin’s experience in Latin dance music and my approach to electronic production and arrangement.
