Our new track "They Say" is out now. It's a record built by three producers in three countries — a Ukrainian, a Russian and an Italian — working across every border in the way, and I think you can hear that it was made by people who wanted to make something together.
Project at a Glance
Release: Nevelskiy, Pastkolz, Phillipo Blake — "They Say"
Vocals & lyrics: Pastkolz (Alex Sate, Ukraine)
Production: Nevelskiy, Pastkolz and Phillipo Blake — an equal three-way split
Label: Loony House Major
Released: January 20, 2023
"They Say" came together the way the best collaborations do — three people in three places, sending parts back and forth until the record was better than any of us would have made alone. Pastkolz — the Ukrainian singer, guitarist and producer Alex Sate — wrote the lyrics and sang the song. He, Phillipo Blake in Italy and I split the production evenly between us.
Alex and I had already worked together on the MARLEN "Promeni" remix, which reached number one on MusicBox and went into radio rotation, so we knew the record would work before we started.
This one was made under hard circumstances on Alex's side, and we finished it anyway. To me that's the whole point of it: people from countries that are supposed to be on opposite sides made a piece of music together, and put it out as something to hope on.
