Records Made Together: Working with Alina Granovskaya

Some of the work I'm proudest of comes from long relationships with one artist, where you build something across several records instead of one. Alina Granovskaya is one of those. Over several years we've made an EP and a run of singles together, and one of those records travelled further than any of us planned: it ended up in a national television series and became the most-played track in her catalogue.

Selected releases together

Боль — Alina Granovskaya · 2020 · Loony House Major

Я иду искать — FUTULVMV & Alina Granovskaya · 2020 · Loony House Major

Для людей (EP) — Alina Granovskaya · 2021

Валера — Alina Granovskaya & Nevelskiy · 2021 · Loony House Major

The artist

Alina is an unusual artist to produce for, in the best way. She comes into a project already knowing what she wants to realise — she has a clear vision, a recognisable style of her own, and lyrics with real character. That changes the producer's job: it's less about steering the direction and more about building the sound that lets her vision land the way she hears it. Working with someone who has that kind of clarity is a pleasure, because every decision has a reason behind it.

How the work built up

Our first records came in 2020. "Боль," which I produced, came out on my label Loony House Major. The same year we released "Я иду искать" — put out under my FUTULVMV project, with Alina on vocals and lyrics.

In 2021 the collaboration deepened. I mixed her EP "Для людей" — all three tracks — giving the release one coherent sonic identity across the record. And we put out "Валера," a track we made together, with me as composer and Alina writing the lyrics, again on Loony House Major.

The track that travelled: "Я иду искать"

Of everything we made, "Я иду искать" is the one that reached furthest.

It was licensed into "Жиза," a youth series on START — one of the largest streaming platforms in the Russian-speaking market — where our track sits in the soundtrack alongside Mumiy Troll, Svidanie and Mujuice. The closing titles credit the music to me and Yuri Pekhtelev, with Alina's lyrics.

And it kept going after that: "Я иду искать" is now the most-played track on Alina's entire profile — ahead of everything else in her catalogue. A record we made together became the one her audience returns to most.

Why these collaborations work

The best producer–artist relationships aren't built in one session; they compound. By the time we made the later records, I already knew how Alina's voice sits in a mix, what her lyrics need room to breathe, and where her instinct is usually right. That accumulated understanding is why a track from this partnership — not a one-off — is the one that ended up on national television and at the top of her catalogue.

Alina is now based in England, where she works in music and film.
