Lê Khoa from Vietnam Idol Releases MV with a Statement to Break Social Prejudice

On the evening of October 15, former Vietnam Idol 2023 contestant Lê Khoa released the music video for his song I Won’t Give Up, delivering a positive message of embracing differences and challenging social prejudice. Lê Khoa from Vietnam Idol
Lê Khoa made a strong impression during Vietnam Idol 2023 with his unusual, wide-ranging voice and distinctive style. His performances, such as “Có không giữ mất đừng tìm” and “Tình 2000,” were energetic and confident. However, his gender-fluid image remained unfamiliar to mainstream audiences.
The MV for I Won’t Give Up acts as a personal declaration of perseverance, self-love, and Vietnamese pride. Filmed scenes in a typical Vietnamese market feature red cords linking Lê Khoa’s heart and hands to surrounding dancers – symbolizing pride and unity in Vietnamese identity.
Musically, the song is a blend of electronic pop, ballroom, and house genres. It was composed and produced by Lê Khoa alongside Russian musician Nevelskiy.
Before joining Vietnam Idol 2023, Lê Khoa had been active in the U.S. music scene since the age of 20. In 2018 and 2019, he released two albums – Lê Khoa hát Lê Minh Sơn and W.A.R – selling over 5,000 singles in the U.S. and collaborating with Grammy-winning engineer Bob Olhsson.
In 2020, he was named LGBTQ+ community ambassador for the state of Kansas in the U.S. In 2021, he released his self-composed and produced album HUMANITY, partnering with Grammy winning engineer Randy Merrill, known for his work with Lady Gaga, Adele, and Sam Smith.
After being eliminated in the Vietnam Idol 2023 Top 10 round, Lê Khoa was granted a special entry by judge Huy Tuấn into the showcase competition Cảm hứng Hò Dô on September 23, aiming to introduce his musical talent to a broader audience.
Having faced mixed reactions regarding his image from the start of his career, Lê Khoa embraced and respected these responses, ultimately realizing that being himself brings the most fulfilling life
